The reference 6239 occupies a foundational place in the history of the Daytona. Introduced in 1963, it was the first Rolex chronograph to carry the Cosmograph name and established the defining architecture of the model, most notably moving the tachymeter scale from the dial to an engraved metal bezel. The result was a cleaner, more purposeful design that remains immediately recognizable more than sixty years later.
The present example features the classic silvered dial with sharply contrasting black registers. Applied baton indexes, luminous plots and matching luminous hands give the dial a restrained, functional character, while the DAYTONA signature appears discreetly beneath COSMOGRAPH rather than in the red lettering associated with later examples. Surrounding the dial is the characteristic steel tachymeter bezel, complemented by pump pushers and the manually wound chronograph movement within.
With a 1.46 million serial number, this example dates to circa 1966, placing it firmly within the early years of Daytona production. The stainless-steel case retains attractive proportions and definition, while the dial presents particularly well, with a clean silvered surface, strong printing and warm, evenly aged luminous plots.
Fitted to a period Oyster rivet bracelet, this 6239 captures the Daytona in one of its purest early forms: manually wound, relatively compact and defined by the crisp contrast of its silver-and-black dial and engraved steel bezel.

When a watch is purchased, our watchmaker will perform a thorough inspection of the movement and perform a number of tests to ensure the watch is functioning in top condition before shipping. This process can take 7-10 business days.
Once your watch is ready, watches shipped within the United States are sent via insured FedEx Overnight and will arrive the next day. We will send over tracking information once the watch ships.
International shipping can take a number of days considering customs and travel. Straps made from exotic materials banned for import will be removed from the watch prior to shipping.
We know it can be difficult be completely certainly that a watch's condition, size or shape is what you are looking for.
We provide a 5 day inspection period from delivery so that you may receive the watch and decide if it is right for you.
This is not a trial period; our watches are well documented and any wear or damage will be deducted from the return amount.
The Keystone offers a one-year warranty covering all mechanical aspects of the watch. This includes abnormal time keeping relative to the watches age, battery replacements and general mechanical issues inside the watch. Many of the watches we sell are vintage and thus may gain or lose more time than modern specifications. We reserve the right to use our discretion and experience to determine acceptable time keeping for vintage watches.
