For collectors who care about context and owning something unique, this vintage IWC is interesting not because it belongs to one of the brands core families like the Pilot or Portugieser, but because it represents a less-known chapter in the long history of Schaffhausens watchmaking. IWC Schaffhausen was founded in 1868 by Florentine Ariosto Jones, an American engineer who saw an opportunity to blend Swiss craftsmanship with industrial precision. Over the following century, the company built its reputation on technically solid watches and thoughtful design, from robust navigation watches to elegant dress pieces. This example sits in that latter tradition.
On the wrist, this watch reads as something from the era when luxury watchmaking was as much about personal expression as it was about timekeeping. The dial is the standout detail here. Turquoise was an unusual choice for IWC, and for most other Swiss watchmakers, for that matter. That this piece of turquoise contains some of its matrix, remnants of its host stone, lends further opulence and distinctiveness. It has a marbled character that recalls shimmering crystal clear waters. Over this expanse hovers yellow gold dauphine-style hands. This is in contrast to its bracelet comprised of textured gold squares beside squares of turquoise framed by gold, with a river of diamonds that flows between them, carried from the dial and down the length of the bracelet. This juxtaposition of color and precious materials feels personal and bespoke.
Its not a design you see often from IWC, or other Swiss makers, and that is precisely why it is special. The condition of this piece is excellent with only minor wear, a testament to how well this watch has been cared for over time.

When a watch is purchased, our watchmaker will perform a thorough inspection of the movement and perform a number of tests to ensure the watch is functioning in top condition before shipping. This process can take 7-10 business days.
Once your watch is ready, watches shipped within the United States are sent via insured FedEx Overnight and will arrive the next day. We will send over tracking information once the watch ships.
International shipping can take a number of days considering customs and travel. Straps made from exotic materials banned for import will be removed from the watch prior to shipping.
We know it can be difficult be completely certainly that a watch's condition, size or shape is what you are looking for.
We provide a 5 day inspection period from delivery so that you may receive the watch and decide if it is right for you.
This is not a trial period; our watches are well documented and any wear or damage will be deducted from the return amount.
The Keystone offers a one-year warranty covering all mechanical aspects of the watch. This includes abnormal time keeping relative to the watches age, battery replacements and general mechanical issues inside the watch. Many of the watches we sell are vintage and thus may gain or lose more time than modern specifications. We reserve the right to use our discretion and experience to determine acceptable time keeping for vintage watches.
