Among the most ambitious creations produced during Audemars Piguets modern renaissance of high complications, the reference 25702 stands as a remarkable demonstration of the manufactures mastery of traditional watchmaking at the close of the twentieth century. Created in an era when Audemars Piguet was reestablishing itself as one of the foremost specialists in perpetual calendars, minute repeaters, and grand complications, the reference combines three of horologys most revered complicationsminute repeating, perpetual calendar, and moonphasewithin a beautifully executed skeletonized pocket watch. Produced in exceptionally small numbers, these grand complication pocket watches represent some of the most technically sophisticated and labor-intensive pieces ever to leave Le Brassus.

The present example is housed in an elegant 18-carat pink gold hunter case whose restrained exterior conceals the extraordinary complexity within. Opening the front cover reveals a fully skeletonized perpetual calendar display, allowing the intricate mechanism beneath to become an integral part of the dial itself. The calendar indications are arranged with exceptional clarity, displaying the day, date, month, leap year cycle, and moonphase across a finely balanced composition. Blued hands provide contrast against the open-worked architecture, while the warm tones of the pink gold case complement the richly engraved movement components visible throughout.

Equally captivating is the reverse side, where a sapphire exhibition back showcases the hand-finished calibre 2850. Every bridge has been painstakingly skeletonized and decorated with elaborate hand engraving, transforming the movement into a work of mechanical sculpture. The visual depth created by the layered architecture reveals the complexity required to unite a minute repeater with a perpetual calendar, while polished steel components, ruby jewels, and gilt wheels animate the composition from every angle. The level of finishing reflects the standards that established Audemars Piguet among the foremost practitioners of traditional Swiss haute horlogerie.

Accompanying the watch is an Audemars Piguet archive certificate confirming its specifications and sale on 12 September 1990. Combining grand complication watchmaking, exceptional hand-finishing, and the romantic appeal of a skeletonized pocket watch, the reference 25702 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most impressive and technically accomplished creations of Audemars Piguets modern era.
