Rolex "Egyptian" Day-Date Oysterquartz

In the late 1970's the watch industry entered what some call the Quartz crisis or Quartz revolution. A quartz movement is a battery powered movement made popular by Japanese watch brand Seiko. With the arrival of quartz movements in the 1970's, the mechanical watch world saw a decline in demand and some panicked believing mechanical watches were gone forever. In response or perhaps along with trend, Rolex released the Oysterquartz. This particular Oysterquartz is a unique piece in that it is the "Egyptian"or "Pyramid" model, named for it's pyramid like studs along the bracelet.
