Produced until 2004, the reference combined two of Patek Philippes most celebrated complications in a beautifully proportioned 36mm case, powered by the manually wound calibre CH 27-70 Q.\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe present example is particularly striking, pairing a platinum case with a glossy black dial. Applied white-gold indexes and matching hands contrast beautifully against the dark surface, while the twin chronograph registers, perpetual calendar indications and moonphase display create a remarkably balanced composition. The combination of platinum and black gives the watch a distinctly contemporary character while preserving the classical proportions of the reference.\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nOf particular note is the exceptional condition of the case. The distinctive stepped lugs retain excellent definition, with crisp edges and clearly preserved hallmarks. The sapphire display back reveals the beautifully finished movement, with its intricate arrangement of chronograph levers, bridges and wheels.\n\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nManufactured in 2001, as confirmed by its accompanying Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, this example dates to the final years of reference 3970 production.
